Year 9 Pop Art
Students investigated the work of four major Pop Artists, combining a range of approaches and media to develop their own designs while showing an understanding of each artists' style and visual language. The work is inspired by today's mass-produced objects, popular culture, games, films, logos, flags and food items. The project culminated in a series of life-size figure murals, again incorporating pop images and symbols from the students' own lives. Six students worked on each mural to combine, develop and refine their ideas.
The final image in this slideshow shows a mural painted directly onto the gallery wall. Inspired by the work of Keith Haring, this is an original design developed and completed by two students outside lessons over the course of three weeks.
